Red and Bent pyramid
Inside the Red Pyramid are three descending chambers, each with its own unique features. The chambers are connected by narrow passages and are characterised by their corbelled ceilings and tight-fitting limestone blocks. While the pyramid was intended as a burial place, it was found to be empty, likely due to ancient tomb robbers.
The chambers have remarkable acoustics due to the way the limestone blocks are tightly fitted together.
The Red Pyramid, also called the North Pyramid, is the largest of the pyramids located at the Dahshur necropolis in Cairo, Egypt. It is the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after those of Khufu and Khafre at Giza. It is believed to be Egypt’s first successful attempt at constructing a “true” smooth-sided pyramid.
