  He applied for grazing on "de Langekloof gelee agter den Sneeuwberge" on 21 December 1789 (RLR36/2) (He must have been there long before the time because on 15 August 1773 Schalk Jacobus Burger applied for grazing on " Langkloof; gelegen op die hoek van de Sneeuwberge aan die kant van Barend Vorster.") Barend Johannes Vorster " de Seven fontein gelegen aan Rhenosterfonteinberg in 1770" (RLR40). On 10 May 1795 it was published "Barend Johannes Vorster van de Langkloof geruineert word deur die caffers maar dat hy nog daar is". Eleven of their children were posibly born on the farm Sewefontein ("In front of Sneeuberg", Voor-Sneeuberg) where they lived between 1770 to 1778. The rest must have been born on the farm, Langkloof where they lived between 1787 to 1799. Barend Johannes Vorster also died on this farm. The fact that Barend Johannes wasn't a traveler his children had the oppertunity to be reasonably educated. Langkloof is today a border farm between Middelburg, Cape province and the Cradock district. With Barend Johannes death his estate consist of 308 cattle, 1848 sheep, 21 horses, 1 male, 1 female and 2 children slaves. Apparently his children inherit the assets while his wife inherited the ownership or occupation right on Langkloof. as well as a wagon with oxen valued at 1600 riksdalers. She got married again before the estate was solved in 1801. She and her husband, Louis van Wyk still lived on Langkloof for several years wherafter everything went to the children. Because of the conservativeness of the Sneeubergers, specially regarding their religion they are known as the "oer-doppers" by certain history writers.
